How can you support LinuxUpskillChallenge.org?
I'm often asked how "students" of the LinuxUpskillChallenge course can support it, or show their appreciation...
Patreon?
No, I don't need the money, and the project itself has only minimal costs for website etc. My small team are happy to pay for this for now.
Spreading the word
The major way you can help is by "spreading the word" so that as many people as possible are aware of the course. It's not always the best option - but at the moment most people are unaware that it even is an option.
It's also the case that the more we have signed up for each class, the more interesting, dynamic and informative the comments in the subreddit are.

The course material itself is a bit of a living document, needing a constant stream of small tweaks and updates. Developing a "Part II" will take a lot of discussion and work. Managing the subreddit, the domain and the website are not big tasks, but they all need doing - and in a way that's sustainable. Contact me if interested.
Build on this
The licencing allows the freedom to use this material in a number of ways:
- Originally the daily delivery of lessons was by email. It would be great if someone could design a system that users could self-subscribe to and have emailed lessons for a month.
- Educational use, perhaps as an extension course for teenage "gifted" kids, is something I'd love to see someone develop. It could well be based around local Raspberry Pi servers, or a single teacher/admin account used to create multiple VPSs.
- As I've shared before, only a short while ago I intended to launch this as a paid service to IT managers, needing a way to simply and cheaply train and evaluate potential junior Linux sysadmins. I still think this makes sense.
Send me a postcard
Yes, a real Snail Mail postcard with a stamp!
I know that there are "students" of this course all around the globe, but it would be great to hold evidence in my hand. In this day and age this may be one of the last times you use that ancient tech; and it'll cheer me up on my "down" days.
